1、despite作为介词，有即使;尽管;尽管(自己)不愿意等含义。
例句：She was good at physics despite the fact that she found it boring.
尽管她认为物理枯燥无味，她却学得很好。
He had to laugh despite himself.
他不想笑，但还是忍不住笑了出来。
2、although作为连词，有虽然;尽管;即使;不过;然而等含义。
例句：Although the sun was shining it wasn't very warm.
尽管太阳高照，却不很暖和。
I felt he was wrong, although I didn't say so at the time.
我觉得他错了，不过我当时没有说出来。
二、用法不同
1、despite：固定搭配有in despite of、despite of，表示不管、尽管，但是使用不普遍，从语气上看，despite比in spite of要轻。
2、although：常用于引导陈述语气的让步状语从句，且引导的句子常指事实，而不指设想。
三、侧重点不同
1、despite：后面只能加名词性短语或代词。
2、although：通常用在句首或句中。
although的用法是什么
although引导的从句放在主句前后均可，不能与but、however连用。
1、although的意思是：虽然，尽管;但是，然而，较正式，语气强烈
He was in love with her, although a man seldom puts that name to what he feels.他爱上了她，虽然一个男人很少用这个词来形容他的感受。
2、although引导的从句放在主句前后、以及句中均可。
although放主语前的例句：
Although the diaminds are expensive, they last forever and never go out of style.
尽管这些钻石贵，它们永远耐用并且永不过时。
although放主语后的例句：
It would appear that Milton has stopped addressing the muse, the Heavenly
Muse, and that he has begun addressing himself although that's unclear.
它所呈现的是弥尔顿已经不再跟缪斯讲话了，天国的缪斯，他已经开始跟自己讲话
了，尽管这不太确定。
although放句中的例句：
And it might turn out that although,normally, having what matters goes hand
in hand with surviving, logically speaking,they can come apart.
也许结论就是，虽然通常，拥有这些重要的东西和生存息息相关，逻辑上来说，它们是可以分开的。
3、Although引导的从句不能与but, however连用，一般要么存在Although，要么 存在however或者是but.
存在Although的例句：
He often helps me with my English although he is quite busy.
尽管他相当忙，但是还常常帮我学英语。
