过去将来时的结构:由would,was/were going to,was/were to was/were about to等加动词原形构成,也可由was/were on the point of加动名词构成。
一般过去将来时有两种不同的形式:“would”和“was going to”。虽然这两个形式偶尔可以互换,但一般来说是表达不同意思的。
一般过去将来时常用于描述过去某时间里你对于未来的想法。猜想正确与否并无多大关系。一般过去将来时和一般将来时的基本规则一样。“would”用于描述志愿或允诺。“was going to”常用于描述计划。此外,两种形式都可用于描述对未来的猜想。
1、was/were about to do 表示“即将、正要”。
Soon our season was over and I was about to move.
很快的,我们的学期要结束了,我即将搬走了。
2、was/were due to do 决定好了要做某事
The meeting was due to last for a week.
这个会议计划要举行一星期。
3、was/were to do 表示曾经计划要做某事,如果没有实现,要用不定时完成时。
She said she was to travel.
她说她要去旅行。
4、was/were on the point of doing 表示正要……的时候
He was on the point of writing letters when I called him.
我给他打电话的时候他正要写信。
